US Constitution Amendment One: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
The Natural Rights enumerated in the first amendment to the Constitution were given primacy for their fundamental nature in a free society. Even the terminology, ‘natural rights’ brings to mind the words from the Declaration of Independence ‘that they (mankind) are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights’. To put it simply, the listing of rights which are God given is a statement that these freedoms are an essential part of what it means to be human. The key point is that the government is NOT giving these rights to people, it is acknowledging that such freedoms come from the Creator and cannot be abridged. If one examines the five individual protections here, they clearly must exist in order to maintain a Constitutional Republic.
Since the First Amendment is based in the concept that it reflects rights common to all people, it is fair to say that it protects speech that people disagree with unless, of course, that person happens to be a political or social conservative. Google, Facebook and Twitter and their subsidiary platforms like Instagram and YouTube have declared total war on anyone who espouses non left wing beliefs. Instead of terms like disagreement, dissent, dispute, contention, debate, controversy, or difference in opinion, anything that the left does not endorse is automatically classified as ‘hate speech’ or ‘incitement to violence’ which is rather pitiful as none of these platforms did anything to stop the REAL violence which was coordinated on their platforms in the Portland or Seattle riots, among other places. Please keep in mind the pictures of known Antifa members inside the Capitol on 6 January before you email me to vent your pitiful attempt at a rebuttal; you know your fellow travelers (and their identifying tattoos) were allowed into the Capitol by Capitol police. The video of the police opening doors and verbally giving permission to enter has been shown multiple times on AMP. These officers clearly had been given some order not to defend a meeting which contained the second highest office in the land and the entire legislature. How this could happen is beyond my ability to give a 100% certain explanation but there is no way this was by chance. Under normal circumstances, people smashing their way into a full US Capitol building would have been deterred by machine gun and sniper fire so please save your energy trying to convince me this was a natural occurrence.
Seizing control of communications has been one of the first steps in any revolution for over a century. During the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, the Petrograd (St Petersburg) Central Telegraph was seized by the ‘military revolutionary committee’ because they knew that was the main method of communication of that era and if they could control it, they could control the narrative. How little has changed today and the modern Bolsheviks have seized control of communications media including but not limited to social media as well as mainstream news sources. In 2023, this is now done without the need for direct confrontation because high tech with coordinated lies can be even more effective plus it saves time as opposed to burying bodies which they will eventually get around to should the stay in power.
Look at what rights have been trampled using the excuse of coronavirus, or to attack President Trump:
Freedom of Religion: States and municipalities closed churches in the name of stopping coronavirus spread. In reality, this is a death sentence to many small congregations as they cannot pay their costs when they have no worshipers whose charitable donations help keep the group alive. Even for a place of worship allowed to remain open, the government has Unconstitutionally delivered ultimatums that churches would be shut down if they hold services without masks, without measuring how far apart worshipers are plus bans on singing and greetings that includes touching each other. You would be hard pressed to find a more egregious violation of the free exercise of religion.
Freedom of Speech: You no longer have a right to an opinion that the left does not like. This applies particularly to any sort of moral views because they constitute ‘hate speech’ in the eyes of the left. Yes, the same people who claim to be liberal have long since forgotten one of their patron saints, Voltaire, who famously said ‘I do not agree with what you have to say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it’. In the tenants of the modern left, if they do not agree with what you have to say, they will attack you, your loved ones, your home or your freedoms to stop you. Big Tech is the most extreme example where anyone who they do not like, including President Trump, get de-platformed and therefore silenced. The rest of the mainstream media is the same in style but since they do not allow first hand posting, they can muzzle someone by simply ignoring that person or group.
Freedom of the Press: This is simply a joke because at this point 92% of all media on three continents is controlled by six companies which collude to control content. Additionally, a previous commentary featured the statistic that only 7% of journalists consider voting Republican so you know there is not even an effort to even pretend this freedom exists. Social media is even worse as there are fewer companies and digital collusion is even easier to achieve. In a tech based world, all you have to do to abridge the First Amendment is to suspend any account speaking something the left disagrees with.
Peaceable Assembly: When the Fauci and Cuomo Gestapos limited how large social gatherings can be and required facemasks on private property, it already constituted a Constitutional infringement. However, Black Lives Matter and Antifa protestors could assemble in any number they choose, face no legal penalties for violent assembly nor for ignoring all mask and distancing requirements because political correctness takes precedent over minor issues like Constitutionality in the eyes of the left.
Petitioning the Government for a Redress of Grievances: Government offices which are closed, ostensibly due to coronavirus, will not meet with citizens for this First Amendment freedom. To make matters worse, many do not appear to care, unless the person making the petition falls into certain politically correct categories that the left approves of. No conservative will knowingly be given the opportunity to voice a legitimate complaint and even if a right wing person made it into a school board or city council meeting, those people will be shouted down by the leftist goons who, once again, preach tolerance but offer none in return.
While censorship is not mentioned verbatim, the First Amendment Encyclopedia insists it is a vital part of that Amendment and therefore cannot be abridged. The Encyclopedia states: ‘Censors seek to limit freedom of thought and expression by restricting spoken words, printed matter, symbolic messages, freedom of association, books, art, music, movies, television programs, and Internet sites. When the government engages in censorship, First Amendment freedoms are implicated’. It cannot get any clearer than that, but as we have seen before, these things do not matter to the left. Censorship is something they crave so that their emotion and illogic cannot be combatted so they can stay in their ‘safe spaces’ and never have to confront anything they and their delicate little snowflakes might find unsettling. They concoct asinine crimes such as ‘microaggressions’ because they cannot defend their views unless they find an activist judge who was chosen for this exact reason which is to develop and create entirely new meanings for Constitutional principles which would have been repugnant to the Founding Father’s intent.
Another aspect of censorship which violates Constitutional rights is what today would be called ‘cancel culture’ which simply means the elimination of any material that those in power do not approve of. This is a favorite tactic of the left in order to remove whatever vestiges of freedom remain so they do not light the spark of liberty for new patriots. This was true during the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia, the Nazi consolidation of power in Germany and the Cultural Revolution in China. Any history not in accord with the ‘party line’ must be eliminated to force citizens into accepting the new reality which is just a politically corrected falsehood. That is what historical revisionism is, the replacement of history with fiction. If libraries were closed due to coronavirus, particularly University libraries, much was already lost but then the easy part remains. The electronic ‘book burning’ then takes place as certain topics and authors ‘disappear’ from the digital archives.
The left wants Capitalism and Civil Liberties to die. And, Americans as well as the people of the world will be forced into submission if they are successful. The First Amendment and its God given freedoms may be the first major casualties of this revolution but the possibility of stopping this still exists but there is no time to waste. The left is emboldened and Mr Biden is doing all his masters tell him to do in order to further their plan to silence all dissent. Please, be willing to take a stand because if you do not, there will be no one left to stand for your rights.
