Today is election day and we did not make it to noon before problems were reported with voting. In some cases, it is the traditional complaints of long lines or people needing an ID to vote. Neither of these should surprise you. However, the specter of electronic voting machines and their questionable reliability are already on display.
Some of these machines are the true computer ‘touch screen’ style, while others are simply electronic vote tabulators. Either way, when problems are announced on election day while people are still voting, you know you have a potential problem on your hands.
Now, there is a guarantee of a grievance. Prepare yourself for the whiny ‘but this is a threat to our democracy’ from the people who cannot comprehend ‘Constitutional Republic’. The unfortunate result is that now, no matter who wins, the opposition will believe they have a justification to reject the outcome. If Americans no longer trust their electoral system, the end result will be disastrous.
